Today, the Walt Disney Company announced the release dates for two expansions to Disney Parks in California and Florida.
Pandora: The World of Avatar is set to open May 27th in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Disney World. This new world will send visitors to the the planet of Pandora from James Cameron film Avatar. Attendees will have the chance to explore the floating mountains on “Avatar Flight of Passage”, where you will take to the skies of Pandora on the back of a banshee. And on “Na’vi River Journey”, this boat trip will wind through the bioluminescent rainforest of Pandora. Guests will also get to dine at several new restaurants and souvenir shops with Pandora themed foods and merchandise.
The long awaited Star Wars Land, that will be opening in both Disneyland in Anaheim, California and Walt Disney World Resorts, finally got a release date and will be unveiled in 2019! The land in each park will be 14 acres, which is the biggest expansion yet in any Disney park to date.
Some guests and passholders may remember the official groundbreaking of this expansion in both parks back in April of last year. Star Wars Land is home to a trading port on a previously unknown planet on the Outer Rim and serves as a final stop before you reach the dangerous vast areas of space that we know of in galaxies far, far away. As every other land in all Disney parks, every aspect of Star Wars Land will be immersive. New restaurants, rides and souvenir ships all themed accordingly.
As previously announced in February 2016, there will be two new attractions. One will focus on the Millennium Falcon, and the other will put you right in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
Mark your calendars folks! The Force is awakening soon.
