Beam us down, Scotty! We're heading to SDCC to explore Star Trek: Discovery!

Trekkies and Trekkers alike are setting their TVs to watch for SDCC 2017!

While Star Trek has been filling our screens with wondrous worlds and groundbreaking storylines for the past 50 years, it’s been over a decade since it has graced our television screens.  Now that CBS has announced the fall arrival of Star Trek: Discovery, fans all around the world have been clamoring for any detail about the new series.  There’s been one trailer so far, and it has already generated an enormous amount of interest in the show.  Now, Star Trek:Discovery will be beaming down to planet Earth to bring answer questions, give behind-the-scene exclusives, and maybe a sneak peek or two during San Diego Comic Con!

Star Trek: Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship and new characters while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

The Star Trek: Discovery panel will be held in Ballroom 20 on Saturday, July 22nd at 2:30PM PST.  Cast members scheduled to appear include Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, and James Frain alongside executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Heather Kadin and Akiva Goldsman. The panel will be moderated by series guest star Rainn Wilson, who will appear as “Harry Mudd,” the charismatic conman and intergalactic criminal that was first introduced in the original “Star Trek” television series.

But wait, there’s more (Star Trek)!

Not only is CBS bringing the panel to the fans, CBS All Access will also be bringing events, activations, and exclusive merchandise to SDCC to celebrate Star Trek’s 50 years of entertainment.  This includes:

Star Trek Gallery Takeover:  Are you a fan of the artistry and prop creation for Star Trek? There will be a fully immersive experience at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery (363 Fifth Avenue, San Diego). Comic-Con badges are not mandatory for entry. The exhibit, running Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23, will feature the debut and a photo op with the U.S.S. Discovery Captain’s Chair.  It will also showcase additional props, costumes, sketches and more. One thousand fans each day will receive complimentary, limited edition STAR TREK: DISCOVERY posters and the location will also house an official Star Trek Shop with SDCC exclusives.

#TrekDiscovery Challenge: Is a social media scavenger hunt more your style? On Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22, fans will encounter an array of authentically costumed Trek ambassadors, representing crews from the first five Star Trek television series (The Original Series, “The Next Generation,” “Deep Space Nine,” “Voyager” and “Enterprise”). Fans who post photos of themselves with ambassadors from each of the five series’ crews and in the Captain’s Chair at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery (and who tag all six photos with the #TrekDiscovery challenge hashtag on Twitter or Instagram) will be eligible to win a Roku streaming stick and a subscription to CBS All Access.  Prizes will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans can find clues regarding the location of the #TrekDiscovery crews by following @StarTrek on Twitter and Instagram.

Pedicab Promotion: Your feet aching from all the standing in line and walking?  Never fear, you can still experience Star Trek!  From Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23, CBS will offer free “intergalactic” rides throughout the Gaslamp District in pedicabs inspired by the design of the U.S.S. Discovery’s Captain’s Chair. The pedicabs will feature the series’ chair’s distinctive stitched black seats as well as video monitors built into its armrests, which in this case will screen trailers for the highly anticipated new show. As an added touch, each vehicle will display an illuminated U.S.S. Discovery delta shield on the back.
