SDCC 2019: Top 5 Don’t Miss It Activities

It’s not all fun and games…until it is

It’s SDCC’s 50th anniversary, and it’s gearing up to be an amazing con! Everyone’s excited about the many panels and offsite activations being offered this year. There’s something for nearly everyone, and a jam-packed schedule sure to keep you running from line to line.

Between all the new movies and shows, as well as convention exclusives at the various booths, it could get a bit overwhelming. Well, never fear! We’ve got the scoop on some unique and fun things to do if you’re looking for a break from the long lines and hot sun!

Parabellum? More like parabola!

Do you want to join the hunt? John Wick has been “spotted” in San Diego and it’s up to you to catch him and claim your bounty. Follow the tweets from Varèse Sarabande Records (@varesesarabande) that will lead you to three different locations inside and around the convention center on July 18th. Collect a John Wick related item from each location and post a photo on social media using the hashtag #HuntForWick. Follow @varesesarabande on Twitter and Instagram for ongoing details.

No TARDIS? No problem!

You don’t have to be part of the TARDIS team to help the Doctor save the universe! Visit the BBC AMERICA booth to be among the first stateside to demo the upcoming virtual reality (VR) game Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, releasing on September 2019.

A feature-length VR experience, the game will transport fans into a globally-beloved world of monsters and aliens, mystery and wonder, letting them embark on a brand-new and fully-interactive adventure, inspired by the show’s 55-year history and starring the Doctor’s current incarnation, played by Jodie Whittaker.

Doctor Who: The Edge Of Time will launch on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Oculus, HTC Vive, and Vive Cosmos in September.

Pika Who? Pikachu!

Experience the magic of Ryme City in an immersive walkthrough pop-up based on the hit film Pokémon Detective Pikachu. Fans can explore the city and take pics with the neon cityscape, Ryme City marketplace, film prop displays, an infinity room and more. Fans can win prizes and the opportunity to take photos with multiple characters from the film, including Detective Pikachu himself! Station yourself outside the Indigo Hotel to check it out!

Don’t forget to shout Shazam!

You don’t need superpowers to have fun at SDCC! Visit the Chilladelphia Winter Carnival in sunny San Diego. At the carnival from the blockbuster film Shazam!, fans can enjoy games such as shooting hoops, ring toss, bean bag toss, high striker and more for a chance to win exclusive prizes and pose for some fun photos! Fly…or if you must, walk over to the Omni Hotel!

We ain’t afraid of no ghosts!

Okay, so this is technically a panel, but we’re talking ghosts and the paranormal here! Travel Channel is bringing paranormal investigators from the hit series Ghost Adventures, LIVE! to SDCC! Listen to Zak Bagans, Billy Tolley, Jay Wasley, and Aaron Goodwin as they share stories from their most memorable and horrifying encounters. Hear firsthand all of the behind-the-scenes details, and the team will debut never-before-seen footage! Plus, attendees will get a chance to receive an EXCLUSIVE giveaway! Location: Room 7AB, Sunday, July 21, 2019, from 1:00 to 1:50 PM.
