The Flash Cast Teases Even More Threats for Barry and the Gang in Season 4
“When we pick up in season four, Iris has focused her energy on being a leader after The Flash.”
Have you stopped crying over that time we thought Iris died when the God of Speed stabbed HR masked as Iris? Yeah, neither have we. The entire main cast of The Flash along with executive producer Todd Helbing were in attendance at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. The cast surprised fans with a special video presentation and Q&A from the audience. They talked about what to expect in Season 4 and even announced a few surprises. First, we haven’t seen the last of the Arrow/Supergirl crossovers. And based on the trailer released at SDCC, there’s a lot to look forward to. Barry may be gone for a while, but definitely not gone for good.
In case you’re new to The Flash, it’s based on the popular DC Comics story with the same name. Your average cute but smart guy Barry Allen wakes up from a coma as ‘the fastest man alive’ and must save the save the world from other metahumans like himself with the help of his friends. Including their alternate Earth-2/Earth-19 characters, The Flash stars Grant Gustin (Barry Allen aka “The Flash”), Danielle Panabaker (Dr. Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost), Candice Patton (Iris West), Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells now HR – RIP), Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash), and Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon/Vibe).
The Flash SDCC panel teased new twists and characters, and we almost didn’t recognize Keiynan dressed as Waldo. See some more highlights from the panel and exclusive trailer released at Comic-Con as well as photos from the signing below!
Central City will see some new faces. Executive producer Todd Helbing teased upcoming threats to Barry when a new metahuman arrives:
“It’s the fastest man alive versus the fastest mind alive”
Helbing also discusses how they will be lightening the tone in season four:
“Last year got pretty dark and we wanna get back the jokes.”
We can’t wait to get back to presumably Cisco’s comic relief that makes the show that much better.
Tom dished on a behind the scenes moment on set where he wanted the team to gather around and say ‘Team Flash,’ which made him, and us, emotional.
“We put our hands in and said “Team Flash,” and I…started…crying. And he (Grant) mocked me!”
In the trailer we learned Barry is gone into the speed force and Candice revealed Iris is trying to turn it into something positive:
“When we pick up in season four, Iris has focused her energy on being a leader after The Flash. She kind of steps up and leads the team, which is really, really cool.”
The last question of the panel asked what other characters could be in store for Tom Cavanaugh to play, and Helbing sums it up perfectly with:
“We like to pull from all the characters from the comic books…there’s a whole list of potential people that Tom could play.”
