HISTORY’s Vikings: “There’s only one Queen in Kattegat.”

“She had to go. There’s only one Queen in Kattegat.”

The cast of HISTORY’s Vikings hit the San Diego Comic-Con stage to announce that season five will premiere Wednesday, November 29 at 9 PM ET/PT and will be TWO HOURS long. The panel started with a look back at the prior season and ended with an exclusive season five trailer. Season five promises bold storytelling, and unbelievable betrayals and alliances. The season begins with Ivar the Boneless reigning over the Great Heathen Army. Meanwhile, Ragnar’s son is plotting his next steps after he avenged his father’s death and battles are to come soon.

Vikings stars Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha, Gustaf Skarsgård as Floki, Alexander Ludwig as Bjorn, and Alex Høgh Andersen as Ivar the Boneless. Jonathan Rhys Meyers will also be joining the cast in season five. The SDCC Vikings panel featured cast members Alexander Ludwig, Alex Høgh Andersen, Gustaf Skarsgård, Katheryn Winnick, and showrunner Michael Hirst. There was also a surprise appearance from Travis Fimmel who plays Ragnar.

The cast revealed a lot of insight into the upcoming season, and we have gathered some highlights below!

Gustaf Skarsgård had this to say on who should be the leader after Ragnar:

“Bjorn would make more sense because he’s not a psychopath.”

Gustaf Skarsgård also had this to say about why he didn’t want to kill the Muslim people:

“There’s something in their conviction that he relates to.”

Katheryn Winnick had this to say about her character killing Aslaug:

“She had to go. There’s only one Queen in Kattegat.”

Halfway through, Travis Fimmel crashed the panel and made a surprise appearance in a kangaroo costume:

Michael Hirst revealed new locations the season will go:

“We go to Iceland this season as well”

Katheryn Winnick said this about Lagertha:

“She’s the people’s queen”
