Comic Con goers! Dig our your platform boots and leather vests and start practicing your makeup stars, because KISS frontman Gene Simmons might be coming to a city near you!
Wizard World, Inc announced today on its official website that Wizard World Touring has partnering with music and technology producer Nick Turner to bring “An Evening with Gene Simmons and His Band” to five of its conventions. This is a joint venture production that will give fans a chance to rock out with the multi-talented musician and businessman.
Gene Simmons is best known for co-founding and fronting the rock and roll band KISS, but can also claim record producer, entrepreneur, actor and television personality to his name. If you think it seems a little odd that the famous rocker would get involved with comic conventions, think again. Simmons is a science fiction and comic book fan, and has published several of his own science fiction fanzines, among them Id, Cosmos (which eventually merged with Stilletto and became Faun), Tinderbox, Sci-Fi Showcase, and Mantisand Adventure! In other words, he’s a geek too!
Each performance will also include appearances by Simmons to pose for photo ops, sign autographs and conduct live interactive Q&A sessions on Saturday of each Wizard world Comic Con. The concerts will be held at club venues in Cleveland (March 18-19), St. Louis (April 8-9), Philadelphia (June 2-3), Chicago (August 26-27) and Austin (November 17-18). The first concert has already been set, and will occur on Saturday March 18 at Agora Theater beginning at 8 p.m. Advanced tickets are available on the Agora Theater and Wizard World websites, with special meet-and-greet packages will also be available.
So, if you see a sudden increase in the number of KISS cosplayers this year, you now know why!
